Future & Continuing Projects

Future  Relief Projects:

 Delmas School Project
Project 81 is planning a tent school that will be implemented in a tent city located at Delmas 32 in Port-au-Prince.  80% of schools in the quake zone were destroyed or severely damaged – 3800 schools no longer usable.  Places of education are sorely needed and this school will address that need in this area.  The main focus  of the school will be kindergarten - 5th grade. The Mayor Jean Gael will administrate the school. The school should be a great success due to having the local leaders involved in the planning process and implementation of the Project.  A very large canopy tent will be needed to act as the classroom.  Desks, curriculum and school supplies will also be needed among other things.  This school project is at the forefront of importance for Project 81.

Medical Tent Clinic
Project 81 will be putting up a medical tent in coordination to the school tent. Medical attention will be given to the surrounding tent city with the hopes of it becoming a full time clinic. Project 81 will be stocking the tent with meds and equipment that will treat a wide variety of medical situations. Doctors and nurses and paramedics from the USA will partner with medical professionals from Haiti as well as training medical students and nurses in the local communities.  Project 81 considers health care a primary concern of quake victims.  The Haitian people lacked good access to health care before the quake.  Since the quake the problem has only compounded as many of the hospitals and clinics have been destroyed.  A medical clinic is a primary project for Project 81 because of the immense need of these services.

***Project 81 had several other projects in the planning stages before the quake, but due to the immense need of the people affected by the quake these projects will temporarily be put on hold to enable Project 81 to concentrate on the areas of the most need.  Other projects will commence once the quake situation improves to a point that energy can be spent elsewhere.***
